Matthew Dempsey, from Pettavel Winery & Restaurant, Victoria, was named the Electrolux Young Chef and Alice Heath, from Montalto Vineyard & Olive Grove, Victoria, was named the Electrolux Young Waiter. Danielle Gjestland from Wasabi, Queensland, was named the inaugural Electrolux Young Restaurateur.

Queensland food and beverage manufacturers and wineries that offer a unique tourism experience are invited to apply for free entry in the publication.

I Love Food Awards 2009

The winners of the I Love Food Awards for 2009 have been announced, with over 100,000 public votes tallied in 16 categories by the Lifestyle Food Channel.
  
A trend toward  Mexican food was evident but also Local was recognised, as consumers embraced companies that sourced produce from their local region.

Local Wines a Winner

                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                  p-wines-tropicaltempationAt the recent Cairns Wine Awards a new section for the Australian Fruit Wine Show was included.  There was an array of fruit wines from all over Australia which were very well received, especially by the younger generation.

Two local wineries pick up awards;  from Mareeba, De bruey’s Boutique Wines their Flagship Coffee Elixir & their Tropical Temptation Liqueur tied for Best Liqueur whilst Silkwoods Murdering PointWinery took out the sweet wine trophy for its Pinnacle Sweet Passionfruit.

RIRDC Rural Women’s Award

The 2010 RIRDC Rural Women’s award opens again on August 1 with a $10,000 bursary prize for the winner.

Rural women are encouraged to enter themselves or nominate someone they think is up to a new and exciting challenge.

The Award celebrates rural women and their contributions to primary industries. It gives rural women the chance to discover their strengths and build their capacity to contribute to primary industries and rural Australia. But just as importantly the Award opens up a positive and powerful network of liked minded women across the country that are passionate about primary industries and rural Australia.

Applications close on World Rural Women’s Day-15th October 2009.

Learn the Art of Grant Writing
